Biographical Information

Larry McManis, President & CEO

Larry is President of ThinkWay Strategies LLC which he founded in 2008. ThinkWay provides enabling services in a broad array of areas but focuses mostly on strategy, marketing, innovation, transformation, and related areas.

Prior to ThinkWay, Larry spent over 30 years as a senior strategy and strategic initiatives leader for Kraft Foods. He was the recipient of multiple awards and the author of two patents: a unique piece of manufacturing equipment in use at Oscar Mayer and Kraft's global innovation process that handles thousands of new products a year.

He has done strategic work for Kraft Foods, Mondelez, Mattel Toy Company including Fisher-Price, Oscar Mayer, Saputo Cheese USA, and other consumer brands, Alliant Energy, and several other clients in manufacturing, transportation, financial services, furniture, and non-profit organizations.

Larry has been married for over 40 years to his high school sweetheart, has three married children, and loves spending time with his grandchildren. He’s a devoted Nebraska Cornhusker fan, loves golf, and is an avid DIY’er around the home.

Larry holds a B.S. Agriculture–Food Science from the University of Nebraska and an MBA from the University of South Dakota.



Fred Grossenbach, Consulting Partner

Fred is an experienced executive consultant specializing in strategic planning, process analysis/improvement, and problem solving in a broad range of industries and cultural contexts. He has successfully led numerous client engagements in both business and public sectors. Prior to his consulting career, Fred was IBM Senior Consultant and led a cross functional team in developing a strategic planning and process reengineering methodology which launched IBM’s national consulting practice. He also served as IBM International Account Executive and IBM Director of Operations, Singapore. Fred was a guest lecturer in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Jakarta, Indonesia for the Asia Pacific Institute of Management Development. He has several advanced learning accomplishments including IBM President’s Class, Learning Cohort – Rowan University, and the IBM Advanced Business Institute. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.


Robin Gates, Consulting Partner

Robin is focused on helping organizations achieve success through better management and systematic process improvement.  His consulting work includes strategic and operational planning, performance management, Lean Six Sigma projects and deployments, and project management.  He works with government, non-profit and private sector clients.  He has held executive positions in both the public and private sectors.  He was the Vice President – Performance Improvement for Alliant Energy.  At Alliant Energy he led a three-year Lean Six Sigma deployment.  He was also responsible for corporate-wide project management, performance measurement and executive performance contracting. Prior to joining Alliant Energy in 1999, he held several senior executive positions in Wisconsin State government including Deputy Secretary for the Department of Workforce Development, State Purchasing Director, administrator for several large shared services divisions and Executive Budget Team Leader. Robin has a Master’s Degree from the La Follette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
